Angela: So, how has it been for you?
Candy: I feel that it has helped me a lot because I was taking classes in a different company before. So, with those classes, it was a group setting where we went through things like present tense, past tense, but you know, just like that, with maybe eight people in one class and homework.
So, I felt like that was good for me in terms of learning. But then, because I was starting conversation, my class got cancelled, which is how I found you. But with Marcela, I like it because in the classes, one thing that I found difficult was, you know, in classes, people are at different levels.
So, sometimes, if somebody is very good and I am not, then I get very intimidated. And so, it's hard. I feel really nervous. So then, I can't get all my questions answered. And because of that, taking the private classes with Marcela has helped me to focus on the things I have the most trouble with, while in a group class, I can't say, "Can we take more time for me for this?"

LESSONS FREQUENCY: One hour of Spanish sessions per week, along with autonomous guided practice.
Candy: "I want more about this." So, I think with having the classes like that, Marcela can see what things I have trouble with. And actually, now with having class with her, I can identify exactly what I have difficulty with. And she is so good with structuring, like making the lesson plans based on what I need and also taking into account what I need too. I don't know if she told you about my idea. I said, I want to talk about patient cases because I always, at least on any given day, have at least two patients who only speak Spanish.
And now she's helped me to explain their diagnoses better. So, I look things up. I learned the words myself and I knew things before, but not to this detail. I explained anatomy to her and also, now we're doing a different thing where we explain exercises.
Angela: I saw the pictures!
Candy: Yeah. Isn't it cool? So, then I'll put the diagnoses in Spanish for her to learn and a couple of things Marcela's like, "I have this problem with my knee!"
Angela: So it's a win-win.

Candy: It's good because I explained it to her and she understands it as someone who didn't know about it, which means that I'm explaining it better. So, it's so helpful because in my other classes, even though I could learn a lot and be better with conversation, I absolutely wouldn't be better with explaining medical things to patients and describing things and understanding how to use certain terms better because sometimes in English, you know, of course, we say something, but in Spanish, it doesn't translate the same way and vice versa.
So, it's very helpful. Like from last year to this year, I can say for sure, even me, and I'm a person who's like, very like, no, I'm never improving. And I could say, "Oh, wow. I actually feel like I'm improving."
Angela: I'm glad that you believe it and you feel it as well.
Candy: I'm starting to feel it. And I think my patients do too. Like they, I just only speak to them in Spanish, so they actually don't assume my nationality is something that is Latin.
So, like when my patient, yeah, who's met, I have like three Mexican patients and she's like, "¿De dónde es? ¿De dónde son tus padres?" And I was like, I'm American. She's like, ¡No! And I'm like, she's like, "¿Por qué tu español está ...?" I'm like, "Porque tengo... Es muy bueno." But they don't believe me. They're like, no. They're like, I don't believe you.

Angela: Ay, that's great. How satisfying is that? I wish one day in the UK someone would say something like that, but I doubt it. So, you know. I stopped dreaming about it, but I'm glad that you can enjoy that happiness because I only dream with it. So, that's great. Oh, that's lovely. That's great. Well, and Yeah. Well, how was, how was the way for you to find us?
Candy: I searched like Spanish chat rooms and then there was a couple of different ones, but I remember when I saw yours and then I looked your company up, I was like, Oh, she actually has a lot of classes. And I liked how on your website. You, your structure and like, you know, like that you had things on the website to give you information that you can book the classes and I like the ease of it.
It was easy to find it. And then I was able to get that that appointment with you for you to like to assess me. And so, after that, I, you know, didn't I never you were the first there was a couple of other ones that I found, but yours with your website and everything was very professional, and I like how it was structured and I'm a person who likes structured organization.
